Chapter 52 - Grettir becomes a bandit. When he is captured Thorbjorg speaks on his behalf and the people of Isafjord spare his life.
Chapter 53 - Thorstein Kuggason, Grettir’s kinsman, give him a place to stay for the winter. Come spring Grettir is asked to leave as he is not willing to put effort into his work.
Chapter 54 - Loft meets Grettir while he is traveling. Grettir leaves this meeting thinking he’s met someone stronger than himself.
Chapter 55 - Grettir tries to settle down but his ill-luck is still with him.

Chapter 48 - Grettir goes to Thoroddsstadir and confronts Thorbjorn and kills him.
Chapter 49 - Snorri refuses to give Grettir a place to hide from Thorbjorn’s family.
Chapter 50 - Grettir stays with Thorgills at Reykjaholar.
Chapter 51 - The case is heard at the Allthing by Skafti the Lawspeaker. Thorir refuses to release Grettir from his outlawry as part of the settlement.

Chapter 44 - The case between Atli and Thorbjorn is brought before the Hunavatn Assembly. Not all parties are happy with the outcome.
Chapter 45 - Ali, a lazy farmhand, flees Thorbjorn’s farm for Atli’s hoping for work.
Chapter 46 - Grettir arrives back in Iceland just before the Althing. He learns of what has transpired in his absence from Skafti the Lawspeaker.
Chapter 47 - At the end of midsummer Grettir sets off towards Gilsbakki. He steals a horse to make the journey and is persued by it’s owner, Svein. During the journey they exchange taunting verses. These verses forge a friendship between the two by the time they reach Gilsbakki.

Chapter 36 - Thorbjorn Traveller speaks ill of Grettir while he his away in Vatnsdal.
Chapter 37 - Grettir sails to Norway to meet the new Norwegian king, Olaf Haraldsson. Thorbjorn Traveller is on the same ship. Grettir kills Thorbjorn Traveller during the voyage.
Chapter 38 - Glam’s curse leads Grettir to burn down a house with people inside by accident.
Chapter 39 - Grettir is unable to prove his innocence to King Olaf.

Chapter 33 - Thorhall is run from his farm by the ghost that has possessed Glam.
Chapter 34 - Grettir hears of the hauntings.
Chapter 35 - Grettir defeats the ghostly Glam but is cursed in the process.

Chapter 27 - The case is won and Thogeir is outlawed.
