With Grettir’s Saga complete Dave and I are going to turn our attention to reading the Havamal.  The Havamal, or The Sayings of Har, is the second section of the Poetic Edda.  There are many great translations out there but we will be using Henry Adams Bellows translation.  For those interested in reading along two sites to visit are Northvegr and Sacred Texts.  For each section we read I will also include my favorite quote or quotes.

We hope you enjoy!

“The Witless man      is awake all night, Thinking of many things; Care-worn he is        when morning comes, And his woe is just as it was”  ~ Havamal stanza 24

“Crooked and far        is the road to a foe, Though his house on the highway be; But wide and straight is the way to a friend, Though far away he fare.”  ~ Havamal stanza 35
