Chapter 83 -Thorjorn Hook goes to Bjarg to taunt Asdis with Grettir’s head. Legal preparations for the Althing are made both by Asdis and Thorbjorn Hook.
Chapter 84 -The proceedings at the Althing do not well for Thorbjorn Hook. He is outlawed for as long as ther was anyone in Iceland who could lay claim agianst him still alive. Though dead, Grettir is absolved of all his wrong doings.
Chapter 85 - THorbjorn finds that even in Norway there were those who might want to avenge Grettir’s death. Thorbjorn Hook then decides to become a mercenary and go to Constantinople.
Chapter 86 - Thorstein Dromund, Grettir’s half-brother, followed Thorbjorn Hook from Norway to Constantinople. Thorstien kills THorbjorn and is imprisioned.

Chapter 79 - Thorbjor’s foster-mother goes to the seashore adn finds a large stump of wood. She curses this stump with ill luck and has her son and his men send it out to sea. Grettir and Illugi find the stump. Illugi wants to take it for firewood but Grettir says that it is cursed and to stay away from it. Glaum eventually brings the stump into their camp. While chopping it for firewood Grettir is wounded.
Chapter 80 - Grettir’s wund continues to worsen over the next two weeks.
Chapter 81 - Thorbjorn is convinced by his foster-mother to go back to Drangey and confront Grettir one final time.
Chapter 82 - During the battle Grettir is so ill he can barely stand. Eventually he is killed and Illugi is captured. Illugi is then killed by Thorbjorn because he felt Illugi would be a threat inthe future if he did not.

Chapter 75 - Grettir swims to Reykjanes.
Chapter 76 - Thorbjorn confronts Grettir at Drangey. But Grettir comes out ahead of the argument.
Chapter 77 - At the Summer Althing, the Lawspeaker decides that Grettir will be an Outlaw for two more years.
Chapter 78 - Thorbjorn gets advice from his foster-mother on how to deal with Grettir. And it is wicked advice.

Chapter 71 - Grettir meets the farmers of Drangey.
Chapter 72 - Grettir goes to the Hegranes Assemblyas Gest. Haf makes an impressive speech on behalf of Gest.
Chapter 73 - Thorbjorn Hook greets Grettir at Drangey.
Chapter 74 - Grettir, Illugi and Glaum plan to leave Drangey because they are so miserable there.
